CHRISTIAN TELEVISION

Q. Are there any ongoing fees for Christian Television?
A. No, there are no plans or charges as the programming is not encrypted and therefore anyone can receive their broadcasts.  The channels all rely on donations from viewers to support their ministry

Q. What channels can I expect to receive?
A. At this stage there are 11 in total: 3ABN, THE HOPE CHANNEL, GOD TV, EWTN, JCTV, DAYSTAR TV,
THE TRINITY CHANNEL, SMILE OF A CHILD, THE CHURCH CHANNEL, INSPIRATION TODAY, APOSTOLIC ONENESS NETWORK

Q. Will the channel list change?
A. Channels are added and removed under the control of the Satellite company from time to time. Other international channels may become encrypted (for pay TV purposes) and may become unavailable. Other channels may join the D2 network and therefore additional channels may be received. For a current listing of channels on D2 satellite go to www.lyngsat.com/optusd2

Q. Is using this service on the D2 satellite legal?
A. It is entirely legal, as the channels are “Free to air”, the same as your everyday TV, channels SBS, 2, 7, 9 & 10 etc. Therefore, by receiving the service, there will be no legal re-percussions, considering there are no subscription fees.

Q. Can more than one TV be connected?
A. Yes. More than television can be connected, only one dish will be needed, you can use more than one box for independent control or you can have one box and cabled to more than one television but everyone in the house will have to watch the same satellite program.

Q. Is the equipment mine or do I have to return it at some point in time.
A. No the equipment does not have to be returned it is yours once payment has been made

Q. What if I shift house,can I still receive Christian television?
A. Yes. But you will need to have the system uninstalled ($60). You can do this yourself if you have someone who can get on the roof and remove the dish and mount. The system can then be reinstalled at the new address ($150)

Q. How long do I have to wait for a system to be installed?
A. In the metropolitan area usually 1-2 weeks. Country areas can vary and would need to be discussed with a company representative

Q. How long will the installation take to do?
A. A standard installation time is around 2-3 hours

Q. I have a two storey house will that make a difference?
A. In most cases there is usually a place that the dish can be installed with minimum fuss. However that would need to discussed with a company representative

Q. I am not very good with technology will I be able to work the system?
A. The system is very easy to use and if you can use a remote control for you regular television you still be able to manage this system.

Q. Will I be able to watch commercial television when I have the system installed?
A. Yes Christian television works along side your normal television and does not interfere with the running of it.

 

FREE TO AIR

Q. What exactly is free to air television?
A. Free to Air television is a service that is offered to rural customers to be able to get commercial channels through satellite.

Q. What channels will I be able to receive?
A. GWN, WIN, SBS, ABC

Q. What are the benefits of receiving free to air channels?
A. Far better reception opposed to standard aerial, there is greater chance of trees and other things which can block reception will be eliminated with satellite.

Q. Are there any ongoing fees for Free to Air Television?
A. No, there are no plans or charges as the channels are turned on for customers free of charge for those customers with a rural address. 

Q. Is the equipment mine or do I have to return it at some point in time?
A. No the equipment does not have to be returned it is yours once payment has been made

Q. What if I shift house, can I still receive Free to Air television?
A. Providing you maintain a rural address you will be able to still receive this service. But you will need to have the system uninstalled ($60). You can do this yourself if you have someone who can get on the roof and unattached the dish and mount. The system can then be reinstalled at the new address ($150).Travel charges may apply.

EXTENDED MOBILE PHONE & WIRELESS INTERNET COVERAGE

Q. What are the benefits of increasing my mobile phone coverage?
A. Apart from the fact that it’s very annoying to have calls drop out, many customers are opting out for a mobile phone only approach as it may save the cost of two services. Along with some of the excellent mobile phone plans around this may let you utilize the plans on offer and hence save money.

Q. Will this help out with my internet drop out?
A. Provided you have the Next G wireless service you may eliminate the amount of drop out you experience while you are using the internet.

Q. What exactly is extended mobile phone coverage?
A. In country areas many mobile phones drop out of range. The installation of aerials and internal cabling will allow you to use you phone indoors at a fixed point. If an outdoors point is put in place you can use it outside as well.

CABLING

Q. What services can I expect to receive with a licensed cabler?
A.  Television and telephone cabling.

Q. What am I likely to pay?
A. Each job is different and rates will need to be discussed with an installer who can quote according to your job

Q. When is the best time to cable?
A. The best time to cable is in the construction phase. Many people do not plan for their telecommunication or home entertainment needs at the time of building or renovating. Taking the time to do this will not only save money but will get a better choice of points and services within the home.

Q. Do I have a choice of where I want the point to go inside my home?
A.  Yes you do have a choice but be aware that the best place to put points in on an external wall as the cabling can go into a wall cavity.  You can have points put on internal walls but there will be conduit on the outside of the wall as there is usually no cavity on internal walls.
